Unfortunately, the lighting industry has not taken responsibility for a sustainable society. We seized the opportunity to create energy-efficient lighting with LED technology, but the industry overlooked sustainability. By building lighting fixtures with integrated LEDs, there is a considerable amount of waste and transportation involved.
With lighting fixtures featuring standard sockets for easily replacing LED light sources, the fixture housing can be used for much longer periods, reducing transportation by over 90%. We believe it's natural not to discard the entire fixture but to replace only the LED light source. We acknowledge that collectively, we must take responsibility for a sustainable planet.
Energy optimization
When transitioning from traditional lighting to LED, we reduce energy consumption by 50-75%. By controlling and adjusting lighting according to needs, savings can reach up to 95%. Choosing solutions with high lm/W is crucial. Our LED light sources have an impressive 200lm/W.
Many of our LED light sources are compatible with Dali/Casambi/1-10V, and these sources are dimmable. Why should the lights be at 100% if no one is there? By controlling the brightness, we increase the lifespan of the electronics and reduce energy consumption.
Our solution
Re use
In a time of significant climate change, we must act where we can make a difference. Through reuse, we create conditions to reduce resource consumption. Recognizing that the fixture housing has a much longer lifespan than the electronics, we have chosen to work with fixtures with standard sockets. This allows for the reuse of the fixture housing by simply changing the light source and components, just as it has been done for the past 80 years.
Reuse also means being able to use existing lighting fixtures if they are in good condition but convert them to LED. This way, we avoid discarding fully functional lighting fixtures and producing and transporting new ones. By utilizing existing fixtures, we not only save on raw materials but also reduce transportation by over 90%.

A crucial factor for us at Lighting Standard Europe is quality. We have been working with our major LED partner since 2010 and have had very positive experiences, allowing us to provide extended warranty periods. Quality of light and light offerings are also essential. Research and development from our partner have enabled us to deliver flicker-free lighting early on and be a market leader in terms of light output/W. Many well-known companies, as well as government agencies and municipalities, use our products today.
